Vesting deadlines

The Pensions Reform reduced the deadlines after which claims under occupational pensions continue to exist following termination of the employment relationship for new commitments after 1 January 2001. The age limit for vesting was reduced from 35 to 30 and the timeframe for existence of the provisioning commitment from 10 years to 5 years. As before, both criteria must be met. These new legal regulations on vesting also apply to a limited extent to existing commitments as part of a transitional regulation.

For claims to benefits under salary sacrifice immediate statutory vesting applies.
