1934
Representative office opened in Belgrade.

1935
Transfer of Saxony-based business of financial institution Gebr. Arnhold, Dresden, to the Dresden branch of Dresdner Bank.

1936
Carl Goetz is appointed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

1937
The Bank is reprivatised through the widespread placing of the shares bought by the Reich government and Deutsche Golddiskontbank.

1938
On 13 March, Austria is "annexed" to the German Reich. Länderbank Wien AG is consequently established by merging the Dresdner Bank-owned Merkurbank, Vienna, the Austrian business of the Zentral-Europäische Länderbank, Paris, and the Vienna branch of Zivnostenska Banka, Prague.

As a result of the Munich Agreement of 29 September 1938, Czechoslovakia has to hand over the Sudetenland region to the German Reich. Consequent takeover of the Reichenberg, Aussig, Karlsbad and Teplitz-Schönau from Zivnostenska Banka, Prague.

1939
Many international business contacts broken off in the Second World War. In the areas temporarily under German occupation, the Bank sets up offices and acquires participations in credit institutes.
Offices close in Germany. Towards the end of the war, major departments of the Berlin Head Office are moved to towns under less threat of bombing.

Takeover of the Sudetenland branches of Böhmische Escompte Bank, Prague (Bebca, established 1863). Branches in Asch, Böhmisch-Kamnitz, Brüx, Gablonz, Jägerndorf, Leitmeritz, Mährisch-Schönberg, Saatz, Teschen-Bodenbach, Troppau and Warnsdorf are added to the network.

Acquisition of majority shareholding in Böhmische Escompte Bank, Prague.

Business with the German commercial co-operative societies, which has been carried out by the Co-operatives Department of Dresdner Bank since 1904, is transferred to the German Central Co-operative Bank and its associated central banks by order of the state.

1940
Takeover of the share capital of Kommerzialbank Krakau (established 1918) by Länderbank Wien. Kommerzialbank wholly owned by Dresdner Bank from 1943 onwards.

1941
Establishing of Handels- und Kreditbank AG, Riga, with branches in Kauen, Reval, Minsk, Narwa, Libau, Schaulen and Wilna.

Acquisition of the majority of shares in Kroatische Landesbank AG, Zagreb (Hrvatska Zemaljska Banka D.D., established 1909).

Founding of Griechisch-Deutsche Finanzierungs-Gesellschaft AG, Athens (Société Financière Gréco-Allemande S.A.).

Establishing of Continentale Bank S.A./ N.V., Brussels, with a branch in Antwerp.

1942
Participation in the founding of Deutsche Bank für Ostasien, Berlin, which was set up to optimise German-Japanese transactions. A branch in Tokyo is scheduled.

1943
The number of Bank customers exceeds a million for the first time. In November, the Dresdner Bank Head Office in Behrenstraße, Berlin, is badly damaged by bombing. The building is hit again in the following two years.

1945
Post-war closure and expropriation of the Berlin Head Office and all offices in the Soviet zone, in Berlin and in the regions east of the Oder-Neisse line. Loss of 162 offices in 56 locations. The Bank buildings in western Germany are destroyed by over 80%.
