1872
Dresdner Bank founded in Dresden on 12 November through the conversion of financial institution Michael Kaskel (established 1771).

Three of the 17 founders are Carl Freiherr von Kaskel, Felix Freiherr von Kaskel and Eugen Gutmann. The founding consortium consists of: Allgemeine Deutsche Creditanstalt, Leipzig, Berliner Handels-Gesellschaft, Berlin, Deutsche Vereinsbank, Frankfurt/Main, Deutsche Effekten- und Wechselbank, Frankfurt/Main, and Anglo-Deutsche Bank, Hamburg.

With initial share capital of 8 million Talers (24 million Marks) and 30 employees at the former Kaskel premises in Wilsdruffer Straße in Dresden, Dresdner Bank launches operations on 1 December. Dresdner Bank entry in the Commercial Register on 3 December.

1873
Dresdner Bank shares listed on the Berlin stock exchange for the first time on 7 January 1873 at a price of 107 3/8 %.

Takeover of smaller Saxony regional institutes until 1878: Sächsischer Bankverein (1873), Dresdner Handelsbank (1874), Sächsische Creditbank (1877) and Thüringische Landesbank (1878).

1881
Branch opens in Berlin, the business of which quickly exceeds that of the Head Office in Dresden. In 1884, the registered office is moved to Berlin. The place of jurisdiction remains Dresden until 1950.

1887
Acceptance to join the German state lending consortium on the issuing of a 3.5% German state loan.

1891
Acquisition of financial institution Robert Thode & Co., Dresden (established 1832).

1892
Acquisition of Anglo-Deutsche bank, Hamburg (established 1871). Branch established in Hamburg.

1893
First cooperation with Messrs Fried. Krupp as lead manager for issuing a 4% loan.

1894
Participation in a German-Swiss-Austrian consortium to found Banca Commerciale Italiana, Milan.

1895
Acquisition of Bremer Bank, Bremen (established 1856). Branch established in Bremen.
Opening of the first international branch in London.

1899
Branches opened in places such as Mannheim and Chemnitz, for the first time without taking over local banks.

1900
Dresdner Bank has the largest branch network of any German bank.

1903
Agreement for a joint venture over 30 years with A. Schaaffhausen'scher Bankverein, Cologne, although it was in fact terminated in 1909.

1904
Acquisition of financial institution Erlanger & Sons, Frankfurt/Main (established 1859) and the German co-operative bank von Soergel, Parrisius & Co. (established 1865). The co-operative bank retains its function as the central institute of co-operative banks until 1939. Branch established in Frankfurt.

1906
Founding of Deutsch-Südamerikanische Bank in Berlin (today Dresdner Bank Lateinamerika AG, Hamburg), under the lead of Dresdner Bank together with A. Schaaffhausen'scher Bankverein and Nationalbank für Deutschland (German National Bank).
Founding of Deutsche Orientbank (German-Oriental Bank), Berlin, under the same consortium.
New branches opened, for example in Munich, Heidelberg and Freiburg.

1909
Branch established in Leipzig.
